Shri Javadekar said the Paris Agreement was a solemn promise made by the international community to seven billion people, that we would work together to mitigate the challenges of climate change. He added that the Paris Agreement sets out the roadmap to achieve this goal. He also said that the Paris Agreement is a more sustainable and ambitious agreement and ensures that the international community will come together to offer a better land to future generations. The minister said the agreement maintains the differentiation of mitigation measures taken by developed and developing countries. The minister also said the agreement was based on the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). He stressed that all the principles enshrined in the UNFCCC are enshrined in the agreement.
